My name is Tamara Sortman. I was born into a family of artists and computer programmers. Is it any wonder that I can't choose a favorite medium to work in? From the time I first picked up a crayon, I knew that drawing would be a part of me forever. My mother is a watercolor and charcoal artist, my husband is an amateur cartoonist, our sons are both studying illustration and our daughter enjoys drawing "Manga-style" images. Personally, I am a self-professed "Pen Junkie" and collect every cool stylus I can lay my hands on! Computers have also been a part of my life since the beginning...the first one I remember was an ancient dial-up machine called a Hazeltine 2000 (go ask your parents about that one!) that sat in our living room so my mother could do her programming at home. When Apple first introduced the Macintosh in 1984, my husband and I rushed to the store and bought one. There has been a computer on every desk in our house ever since. I now design on both Macintosh and PC platforms, which gives me the ability to test all my designs for cross-platform optimization. Another love of mine is scrapbooking and card-making. It's so wonderful how the visual skill of scrapbooking can help in the design process in the world of computers as well. What else is a web site but a larger, interactive scrapbook page? I'm so happy that all of these passions of mine can work well together and that I can share them with you!
